Did You Know?
Did you know that 80% of female executives played competitive sports growing up? Unfortunately, there is still a gender disparity in business leadership with women being underrepresented in top executive positions. To honor the female athletes who desire to pursue a future in business, former La Roca FC Director of Marketing, Julia Howard will sponsor five high-school aged student-athletes each year with $500 awards (applied to their La Roca fees). Julia wants to inspire young girls to strive for leadership roles and break down barriers traditionally male-dominated. Julia is the COO of AlertGPS and a founding member of Amber Alert GPS where she knows the value of women in business, the personal confidence it develops, and the opportunities it creates.
To apply for this award, please:
- Be female.
- Be a high school student in 9th-12th grade.
- Be committed to participating in a La Roca FC competitive team for the upcoming year.
- Submit a copy of last year’s report card with a minimum 3.5 cumulative average.
- Craft and submit a written essay expressing your motivations and aspirations behind your desire to lead in the field of business titled: “Why I Want to Lead in Business”. Your essay should fall within the range of 350 to 500 words. This is an opportunity for you to articulate your passion, goals, and vision for a future in business leadership. (AI written essay’s will be disqualified).

Personal Motivation: Share the driving forces behind your ambition to pursue a leadership role in the business world. Reflect on personal experiences, values, or influential encounters that have ignited your passion for business leadership.

Vision and Ambition: Articulate your long-term goals and how you envision yourself contributing to the realm of business. Elaborate on the positive changes you aim to bring about and the impact you aspire to make as a leader.

Inspirations and Role Models: Identify and share the figures, mentors, or role models in the business world who have inspired you. Explain how their achievements and qualities have influenced your own aspirations and leadership style.
